Faculty of Medicine Holds Medical Sub-forum of 2025 Ningbo University Forum for Outstanding Young Scholars at Home and Abroad

On November 8, the Faculty of Medicine of Ningbo University held the Medical Sub-forum of the 2025 Ningbo University Forum for Outstanding Young Scholars at Home and Abroad. Young scholars from renowned domestic and international universities and research institutions, including Peking University, Zhejiang University, and New York University, participated in the event. More than 50 attendees, including faculty members, doctors from affiliated hospitals, and graduate students, gathered to engage in in-depth exchanges on cutting-edge medical research and the recruitment of high-level talent. The forum was presided over by Liu Yu, Executive Director of the Faculty of Medicine.

At the opening ceremony, Liu Yu extended a warm welcome to the young scholars who traveled from afar. She emphasized that the forum was not only a grand event for academic exchange but also an important window to showcase the talent policies and research capabilities of the Faculty of Medicine at Ningbo University. She expressed hope that this platform would attract more outstanding young talents from home and abroad to join the faculty. Liu Yu also introduced the development history, achievements, and future vision of the Faculty of Medicine, comprehensively demonstrating its strategic layout and firm confidence in disciplinary planning, scientific research innovation, and talent recruitment.

During the academic presentation session, several young scholars shared the latest advancements in their respective fields. Dr. Li Jiaqi from the Liangzhu Laboratory of Zhejiang University presented on the topic "Artificial Intelligence Models Based on Genome Sequences and Their Applications in Medical Genetics," showcasing the groundbreaking potential of AI in deciphering complex genetic mechanisms. Dr. Xu Guangjun from New York University reported on his latest research conducted overseas, focusing on innovative approaches to exploring protein interaction networks using chemical cross-linking and protein mass spectrometry, combined with cryo-electron microscopy to investigate the functional mechanisms of complexes. Dr. Zhao Haixin, an assistant researcher at the General Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, focused on the "Physiopathological Mechanisms and Targeted Intervention of Mitochondrial Calcium Signaling," a study vividly described as the "emergency switch" for cellular energy regulation, which sparked widespread interest among attendees. Dr. Yu Jinxia from Southeast University provided a systematic exposition on the impact of environmental pollutant exposure on neonatal birth outcomes, offering a new perspective for maternal and child health research.

This forum not only served as a concentrated showcase of cutting-edge medical developments but also represented a significant initiative by the Faculty of Medicine of Ningbo University to gather outstanding talents and advance Ningbo's "Medical Excellence" plan. By establishing a high-level academic exchange platform, the Faculty of Medicine has effectively expanded its talent recruitment channels and strengthened interactions and connections with outstanding young scholars at home and abroad.
