On the afternoon of November 16, the inaugural "Haier Shi Cup" Ningbo University Staff "Campus Basketball Association" basketball tournament came to a successful conclusion at the Zhou Yiqing Gymnasium. Zhang Zhenzhu, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, attended the closing ceremony and presented awards to the championship team.
As a successful exploration and practice in alumni engagement and staff culture in higher education, this tournament kicked off on October 18 and spanned five weekends, featuring 48 intense and exciting matches before determining all final rankings. The Yinzhou District Alumni Association claimed the championship, while the Jiangbei District Alumni Association and the affiliated Yangming Hospital secured second and third places, respectively. The joint team from the affiliated Qingteng Academy, the affiliated Li Huili Hospital, the joint team from the School of Music and the Pan Tianshou College of Arts of the United College, Haier Shi Biomedical Co., Ltd., and the affiliated Women and Children's Hospital placed fourth to eighth.
Deputy Secretary Zhang Zhenzhu highly commended the successful organization and fruitful outcomes of this "Campus Basketball Association" tournament. He emphasized that the event not only served as a meaningful gift for the university’s 39th anniversary but also vividly embodied the Ningbo University spirit of "Inclusiveness, Self-improvement, Pragmatism and Innovation, and Advancing with the Times." As a pioneering initiative in Chinese higher education, the first Staff "Campus Basketball Association" successfully established a platform for fitness and emotional exchange encompassing faculty, staff, affiliated hospitals, affiliated schools, industry employees, and alumni, truly putting the concept of "One Ningbo University Family" into practice. Its innovative model and extensive influence provide a "Ningbo University Solution" for staff sports activities in universities nationwide.
The tournament was jointly organized by the Sports and Culture Committee of the Ningbo University Labor Union, the University Staff Basketball Association, the Faculty of Medicine, and the School of Physical Education, with sponsorship from Haier Shi Biomedical Co., Ltd. The event attracted an unprecedented 19 teams, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere. The thrilling matches gained widespread attention through online live broadcasts and received enthusiastic responses both on and off campus. It is reported that this innovative tournament, which fosters unity and showcases vitality, will continue as a traditional sports and cultural activity of the university, with more excitement anticipated in the coming years.
