On November 8, the First Zhejiang Provincial College Student Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance and Innovation Competition was held at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, attracting nearly 600 teachers and students from 33 universities across the province. The competition featured five tracks: Inheritance of Classical Chinese Medicine, Clinical Skills in Chinese Medicine, Rehabilitation Therapy Skills, Chinese Materia Medica Identification Skills, and Traditional Chinese Medicine Innovation and Transformation. An undergraduate team from the College of Pharmacy, guided by teacher Ding Lijian, advanced to the finals after rigorous selection.
During the finals, the team consisting of three undergraduate students from the Class of 2024 Pharmacy Program—Li Yujia, Ruan Peiqi, and Tang Chenxin—demonstrated outstanding performance in multiple skill segments and theoretical competitions, including the identification of raw medicinal plants, the authentication of herbarium specimens, the differentiation of Chinese herbal decoction pieces, and the microscopic identification of powdered medicinal materials. Ultimately, they won the bronze award in the Chinese Materia Medica Identification Skills track.
With the theme "Inheriting Millennia of Traditional Medicine, Creating the Future of Chinese Medicine, and Integrating Industry-Education Collaboration," the competition inspired students from the College of Pharmacy to explore the mysteries of traditional Chinese medicine and fostered critical thinking and innovative abilities among pharmacy majors. The students expressed their commitment to pursuing their professional studies with even greater enthusiasm and a rigorous attitude, showcasing the spirit and professional competence of pharmacy students in the new era, and contributing their youthful energy to the Medical Excellence Plan.
